Abstract :
In this paper, an anti-corrosion superhydrophobic film with anti-bacteria adhesion effect was successfully fabricated on AZ91D Mg alloy by hydrothermal method. The as-prepared superhydrophobic film has a contact angle of 155° and a low sliding angle of ~ 2°. Electrochemical measurements and long-term immersion test showed that the superhydrophobic film can greatly enhance the corrosion resistance of Mg alloy in the Hankʹs solution. Cytotoxicity test showed that the superhydrophobic film could effectively lower the toxicity of Mg alloy. Furthermore, the superhydrophobic film can obviously resist the adhesion of the bacteria on Mg alloy, showing a good anti-bacteria adhesion effect and then reducing the risk of infection in/after the implanting operation. The superhydrophobic film can significantly improve the performance of Mg alloy as an implant material. Itʹs believed that the superhydrophobic materials have huge potential application value in the biomaterial area.
