Shear Transformations and Microstructure1

This paper offers a general discussion on martensitic transformations with an emphasis on the iron-carbon alloys. The “invariant plane” description approach is analyzed in addition to discussion on non-ideal martensitic shapes and the structure of martensite—its effects and interactions.
