Abstract :
A method for estimating uncertainties and systematic errors in metallographic measurements obtained through image analysis is presented. The influence variables for the digital analysis sequence are identified and inserted into a propagation equation for the measurement uncertainty. Systematic errors are estimated comparing experimental results and theoretical values obtained through thermodynamic modeling for certified composition alloys undergoing a specific heat treatment. The influence of composition and temperature uncertainties in phase amount uncertainty is also estimated.
