Découverte dʹun site cérémoniel formatif sur le versant oriental des Andes

Résumé uilles réalisées depuis 2002 sur le site de Santa Ana–La Florida (Équateur) ont permis la mise au jour dʹun important ensemble architectural, à fonction cérémonielle et funéraire, occupé dans le courant du IIIe millénaire av. J.-C. La richesse des vestiges associés, et particulièrement celle de lʹart lapidaire, témoigne dʹun développement ancien des sociétés agraires sur le versant oriental des Andes, en milieu tropical humide, et remet en question les modalités dʹapparition des premières grandes civilisations andines. Archaeological explorations on the Santa Ana–La Florida site (Ecuador) have exposed underground architectural structures dating to the 3rd millennium BC. The site seems to have been a small ceremonial center with funerary structures. The complexity of the cultural remains, and especially of the lapidary art, shows the high degree of development achieved by the agrarian communities established on the low moist tropics of the eastern slopes of the Andes.
