Art paléolithique, saisons et climats

Résumé la glaciation de Würm, lʹart rupestre et mobilier des chasseurs-cueilleurs de Cro-Magnon (de –35 000 à –8 000 ans environ) est fait dʹanimaux, dʹhumains et de signes géométriques. La vie quotidienne est rythmée par les saisons. Elles se reflètent assez souvent dans la morphologie et/ou le comportement des grands herbivores représentés. La présence de certaines espèces traduit des épisodes froids : mammouths, rhinocéros laineux, ovibos, rennes, mégacéros. Dʹautres témoignent de réchauffements (comme lʹinterstade de Lascaux) : chevaux, bisons et surtout aurochs, cerfs et biches, bouquetins. À la fin de la glaciation, la faune froide nʹest plus représentée. Le grand art animalier des Cro-Magnons disparaît au profit dʹun art des rochers de plein air, schématique et souvent narratif. During the glaciation of the Würm, the rock and movable art of the hunters – gatherers of Cro-Magnon (approximately 35 000 to 8000 years ago) is made of animals, human beings and geometrical signs. The everyday life is given rhythm by the seasons. They are rather often reflected in the morphology and/or the behaviour of the big herbivores represented. The presence of certain sorts indicates cold episodes: mammoths, woolly rhinoceros, ovibos, reindeers, megaceros. Others testify of reheating (as the interstadium of Lascaux): horses, bisons and especially aurochs, deer and hinds, ibexes. At the end the glaciation, the cold fauna is not any more represented.
