Abstract :
Interfaces made up of amphiphiles have typical thicknesses of up to a few tens of angstroms and structures with characteristic lengths of a few hundred angstroms, for example micelles and microemutsions. These dimensions make amphiphilic interfaces especially well suited to small angle neutron and X-ray scattering. After the recent progress achieved in structural determinations the way is now open to extend studies to the dynamics of these systems. A clear trend towards polymer science is emerging, where research on block copolymers represents a natural extension to the work on amphiphiles.
