Abstract :
The observed integral meteor intensity cannot determine the real character of meteor radiation. The data on absolute spectrophotometry of meteor spectrograms permit the number of radiating particles to be estimated for different brightnesses of meteors. Two methods of nonradiative meteor mass estimation are given. As an attempt to calculate nonradiative meteor mass, the first method utilizes a special multiplier in the formula of radiation spectral line intensity. This multiplier is determined from comparison of theoretical and observed intensities of the same lines. Another method is based on the comparison of theoretical data obtained from kinetic equations of meteor plasma and experimental data relative to the density of particles. However, only the comparison of observed numbers of radiating concentration and known data of an artificial cosmic sample will allow the coefficients for calculation of the nonradiating meteor mass to be obtained.
