RETRACTED: Signatures of downgoing plate-buoyancy driven subduction in motions and seismic coupling at major subduction zones

Please see Elsevier Policy on Article Withdrawal (http://www.elsevier.com/locate/withdrawalpolicy). : after publication, errors were discovered in the plate-motion database that it was based on. This dataset was an updated version of the dataset presented in Sdrolias and Muller (2006), provided to us by the first author. The errors in this version were in the away-from-trench/towards-trench assignment for subduction zones with back-arcs and also due to the fact that the next generation plate model had only partially been completed. These errors affect the conclusions about seismic coupling. They also change some of the points in most of the other plots, and although this does not invalidate the other conclusions, the discussion to reach them would be altered.
