Abstract
Mixed-mode stress intensity factors were computed for cone cracks developing under spherical contact load. The results obtained by application of the weight function method are used to calculate the cone angle under the condition of KII=0 during crack generation. Cone crack angles are determined for sphere and rigid stamp loading, which fit excellently to the experimentally observed data.
