Abstract :
Both construction-stage monitoring and operation-stage monitoring are very much needed for a major rock slope project. An operation-stage safety monitoring system with an automatic monitoring information system was designed on the basis of a construction-stage monitoring system for the shiplock slope of Wuqiangxi Hydropower Station in the south central China. Its establishing method, prominent features, and application results are briefly introduced in this paper. Its characteristic functions are as follows: joint monitoring of key parts of the slope, thunderproofing of both installed transducers and monitoring instruments, all-weather continuous monitoring of relative displacement between slope toe and shiplock, advanced management of automatic monitoring, fast visual inquiry and analysis of monitoring data, and preliminary decision support for slope safety evaluation and management. It has met the special demands of operation-stage monitoring and plays an important part in raising the flood-storage capacity of the dam and ensuring the safe operation of the shiplock.
