Experience towards the operation of a fusion reactor gained through fusion experiments using deuterium–tritium mixtures in JET

This paper gives a comprehensive overview of the operation of the technological and procedural aspects of the operation of the JET tokamak using deuterium–tritium mixtures with large fusion energy release. The paper makes reference to the set of accompanying papers in this volume, which gives detailed descriptions of individual aspects of the operation. The purpose of this overview is to present an integrated picture of the tritium operation as a whole including preperation, documentation, safety and environmental considerations, as well as the more technical operational considerations and results.
