Abstract
In the EAST tokamak upgrade plan, the peak heat flux requirement to the PFC (plasma facing component) is 2 MW/m2, which doubles current design criteria, and needs improved cooling modules. In order to satisfy this demand and achieve the ability of cooling the next generation machine, the hypervapotron concept is chosen to be developed as a candidate method. Preparative design and optimization work is ongoing, which mainly based on the CFD (computational fluid dynamics) analysis presenting the sub-cooled boiling process in the module; in this paper, the boiling effect is confirmed compared to former single phase convection, then six different fin designs are compared as an optimization, as well as the clearance between the fin and the side wall, all these efforts ensure the quality of the design and prepare enough materials for the mock-up test.
