Discussion of Rennie, A.F. and Hansom, J.D. 2011. Sea level trend reversal: Land uplift outpaced by sea level rise on Scotlandʹs coast. Geomorphology, 125 (1), 193–202

There is fundamental error in the recent paper by Rennie and Hansom (2010). At numerous points they refer to a reduction in the rate of change, or “isostatic slowdown” (p. 201) between the last 1000 years and the present. This is based on an incorrect comparison of data variables: relative sea/land level change is not the same as vertical land motion.
