Abstract :
A new concept for a high heat flux component for ITER is presented. It consists of modular elements similar to the monoblock geometry, with a water cooling tube of copper alloy onto which an array of beryllium lamellae, instead of a solid tile, are bonded or brazed. The segmentation of the beryllium tile in the axial direction greatly reduces the thermal stress along this direction, where beryllium has a poor mechanical performance, allowing the use of a material which has excellent in-plane mechanical properties.
