  • Abstract
    Tritium release behavior from Flibe has three aspects in the chemical form and the tritium inventory with changing H2 and HF activity in the system. A tritium release process releasing HT with a short timelag under high H2 activity and low HF activity is investigated by in-pile experiments. The overall mass-transfer coefficient was obtained to be 0.75–1.1×10−5 (m s−1), depending on the rate of H2 gas bubbling in Flibe. This process does not depend on H2 activity in the system but the fluidity of Flibe and as such the rate-determining mechanism for tritium release under H2 purge gas at 873 K is considered to be HT diffusion in the Flibe liquid film.
