Abstract :
This study concerns the assessment of the long-term hazards associated both with fission and future fusion reactors, namely:•
ion in a fusion waste disposal site. This analysis was performed in the frame of the SEAFP-2 studies of the European Fusion Technology Programme.
ion in a fusion waste disposal site. In this case, data are taken from typical European waste disposal sites.
erm migration of radioactive nuclides due to natural waste package degradation, for both fission and fusion reactor cases.
l relevant cases, evaluation of associated risks is carried out. A comparison of the obtained results permits to state that:•
ion is by far the most relevant source of public risk for radioactive waste disposal;
shows lower values of radiological hazard compared to that of fission;
aluated risks are well below the acceptable risk limits and in good agreement with the results of other studies.
