Thermal analysis of the tile impacted by concentrated heat loads caused by the lost of an upstream tile

The presented thermal analysis of the vertical target subjected to highly concentrated (qo≈382 MW/m2) heat loads by means of the developed 2D code demonstrates the potential of ‘plasma machining’ for the divertor PFCʹs. This creates a possibility to avoid the cascade failure of the flat tiles.
