Abstract :
Nowadays the emotional quotient is focused as a new field in psychology. The studies which have been done in this field show the role of emotional quotient and related factors in different aspects of individual`s life such as: academic achievement, marriage, job and the social relation. The present study is conducted with the goal of observing the relation between the emotional quotient and academic achievement of boy and girl students at high schoolboy using descriptive research method and correlation. The studied sample capacity was 315 individuals (161 girls and 154 boys) collected through relative stratified random sampling. Data collection tools were emotional quotient questionnaire (Siberia Schering) and cognitive intelligence test (the Raven) and the students completed both questionnaires. In this study after analyzing and the statistical test, the following results have been gained: there is a meaningful relation between the academic achievement of students and the value of their intelligence quotient. Also there is a difference between academic achievement of girls and boys, as the academic achievement of girls is more than the boys. There is no considerable gap between the boys and girls regarding the total score of emotional quotient and in comparing the factors related to intelligence factors, self-motivation, self-awareness, self-control, social conscience and social skills, just the score related to intelligence factor of girls is more than the boys and in the other factors no significant difference could be seen.
