Abstract :
A group of cyanoacetanilides prepared by the reaction of aniline and its derivatives with ethylcyanoacetate. In an
efficient route, the latter compounds underwent formylation and cyclocondensation to convert to 2-chloroquinoline-3-
carbonitrile derivatives in the Vilsmeier’s reagent.
