Abstract :
The complex of antimony (Ш) chloride (SbCl3) and (triethylbenzylammonium chloride (TEBA) called bis (triethylbenzylammonium) pentachloroantimonate (Ш) ([(C2H5)3C7H7)N]2SbCl5) was described as a novel catalyst for Friedel-Crafts acylation reactions of aromatic compounds with acyl chlorides. This catalyst is resistant to atmosphere and moisture with minimal toxicity. Its use is rapid and clean. Furthermore, reusability, easy to perform eco-friendly mild reaction conditions, short reactions time, high yields, and easy work up are some more advantages.
