Optimal Test Strategies for Hepatitis B Vaccination with no Vertical Transmission

We consider a age-structured model with vaccination and de ne costs for a vaccination strategy and e ect. Two optimization problems in a free disease pattern situation emmerge: to nd the strategy with minimal costs at a given level for the e ect, and also to nd the strategy with maximal e ect at given costs. It turns out that there is an optimal strategy that is nonzero in one or two age classes, i.e., consists of a sum of at most two delta-peaks.
