Abstract :
This paper establishes a result on matching polynomials that is related to a conjecture by Gutman, see . The principle of Inclusion and Exclusion is used to count matchings of certain reduced subgraphs. A function is then defined on each set of matchings to obtain a result on acyclic polynomials.
