UK activities in measurement validation and data quality

Embedded computing is dramatically improving the power and functionality of modern instrumentation with support from Fieldbus communication standards. An important emerging area is online measurement validation for real user benefits in control and maintenance. UK work in this area is reviewed with an introduction to the draft BSI standard for Data Quality Metrics and its user benefits.
