Abstract :
In this paper, an 8th order method for the solution of a nonlinear scalar equation is developed based upon the Halley algorithm. The new algorithm uses the same information as in a previous 7th order method. Some numerical examples are used to demonstrate the new method, and a systematic search method to develop higher order algorithms is proposed. In terms of the systematic method, some previous methods are delineated
