Abstract :
2008 marked the 50th year of the Turkish National Member Organization (TOK) of the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC). Towards this recognition, the 16th National IFAC Symposium on Automatic Control, TOK’08, had been organized as an anniversary celebration. International attendance and high academic level was well-promoted. Previous and current IFAC presidents, Prof. Dr. Wook Hyun Kwon and Prof. Dr. Alberto Isidori, honored the symposium with their contributions. Eminent scientists from Turkey and beyond, Prof. Dr. Frank Allgöwer, Prof. Dr. Georgi Dimirovski, Prof. Dr. Atilla Bir, Prof. Dr. Yaman Arkun, Prof. Dr. Nejat Olgaç, Prof. Dr. Kemal Özgören, among others, gave the symposium spectrum from the antique history of automatic control to the most recent developments. Cengiz Celep from SMC-ENTEK, Mustafa Naymanlar from ENOSAD and Özcan Kahramangil from ASELSAN presented an overview of Industrial Applications of Automatic Control
