Abstract
A survey was carried out to detect the presence of termites in and around selected premises in North Peninsular Malaysia (Penang and Kedah). The entire premises surveyed were found infected with termites, which come from 2 families and 5 genera; Coptotermes and Schedorhinotermes (Rhinotermitidae), Microcerotermes, Macrotermes and Globitermes (Termitidae). Genus Coptotermes is the most common termites foraging in and around the premises followed by Microcerotermes, Macrotermes, Globitermes and Schedorhinotermes.
