Abstract :
Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) is an exaggerated response to ovulation induction therapy with HCG. OHSS is a self-limiting disorder that usually resolves spontaneously within several days, but may persist for longer durations, particularly in conception cycles. The syndromehas a broad spectrum of clinical manifestations, from mild illness needing only careful observation to severe disease requiring hospitalization and intensive care. It is estimated that about 11% of patients who undergo ovulation induction, develop ovarian hyperstimulation and out of these 0.4-4% develop sign and symptoms of OHSS.
