Abstract :
Excretory urography (EU, IVP) is the corner stone of the imaging modalities of the urinary tract. However, many times the IVP results are doubtful. When confronted by such a situation the rule is to proceed with another diagnostic imaging modality. With the recent introduction of multi-detector row helical computed tomography (CT), the radiological evaluation of patients with urologic disease has changed rapidly. Application of multi-detector row CT to evaluate the urinary tract has been termed CT urography (CTU). This study has been conducted on 80 patients with different urological complaints who underwent IVP. CTU was performed as a problem solving technique for doubtful IVP results regarding various ureteric lesions. CTU was able to visualize, ascertain and clarify a ureteric lesion in 65 out of the 80 patients understudy (81.25%).
