Purpose: To evaluate the role of MR Urography in assessmentof urinary tract obstruction when excretory urographyis contraindicated.Patients and Methods: This prospective study included34 adult patients with suspected urinary tract obstructionhaving contraindication to excretory urography includingrenal impairment, and contrast allergy, routine KUB, abdominalultrasonography and MR Urography using HASTE Techniquewere done for all patients, followed by retrograde pyelographypreoperatively for those patients who were indicated forsurgical interference. Results: MR Urography revealed pelvicalyceal and uretericdilatations with variable degrees with accurate detection ofobstruction level in all patients (34/34). Also, MRU detectedcause of obstruction in 25/34 patients with 73% sensitivity. Conclusion: MR Urography is a non-invasive diagnostictool in assessment of urinary tract obstruction in patients unfitfor excretory urography, it offers overall view for urinarytract anatomy, accurately detect the level in obstructinguropathy with less sensitivity to the cause.
