Abstract :
Tuberculosis is the oldest disease known to affect humans. No tissue or organ is immune against attack of tuberculosis. Objective: To study the prevalence of tuberculous endometritis among infertile female patients, and to evaluate hystroscopic findings in correlation with laproscopic findings among infertile patients. Cross sectional study was carried out on 30 patients suffering from infertility either primary or secondary infertility according to certain inclusion and exclusion criteria, in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Suez Canal University Hospitals. Methods: All patients were submitted to history taking, clinical examinations, preoperative investigations, diagnostic laparoscopy, diagnostic hysteroscopy and endometrial biopsy for histopathology. Results: Only one case (3.3%) was discovered to have tuberculous endometritis. Conclusions: Tuberculosis is once again should be con-sidered in the differential diagnosis of causes of infertility. Laparoscopy and hysteroscopy are complementary to each other to reach a reasonable assessment in a case of infertility. Endometrium is the best accessible tissue, so endometrial biopsy should be a routine investigation in every case of infertility. Tuberculous endometritis is not necessarily to be secondary to pulmonary tuberculosis.
