Abstract :
The Aim of this Study: Is to identify the factors which contribute to the outcome of isolated moderate head trauma in El-Kasr Al-Einy University Hospitals. Patients and Methods: Retrospective study of 3 0 cases of moderate head trauma injuries. Patient were admitted and treated in Neurosurgical Department from March 2014 to May 2014. The data collected from the 30 cases that were treated during the study were analyzed, and the results were concluded, compared and evaluated. Results: The highest peak of age is between 10-20 years old (33.3%) which is going with the majority of the reported research of the moderate head injury. The main causes of moderate head injury are the road traffic accident (33.3%) and fall from height (26.7%), as the society is industrial and commercial. There is no big sport activity in Egypt comparing to USA. It was conservative (63.3%) and surgical management (36.7%). All patients were screened by CT. That the prognosis of moderate head injury due to indirect trauma is much better than the direct one. The minimal time of transportation of patients is 30 minute. Early resuscitation and aggressive treatment of head injury especially at the scene and during transport and specialized care unit are associated with improved functional prognosis. Conclusions: Head trauma represents a significant public health problem.
