Abstract :
The aim of this study was to determine vital capacity response to focused ultrasound cavitation in prehypertensive centrally obese men.Subjects and Methods: Fifty volunteers prehypertensive centrally obese men with age ranged from 25 to 35 years old were participated in this study. They were recruited from outpatient clinic October 6t*1 University Hospital. They were assigned into two groups equal in number: Group A included 25 man received a weight reduction program in the form of low caloric diet (800-1200 calories/day), aerobic exercises in form of walking on treadmill 3 times per week for 12 weeks in addition to high intensity focused ultrasound cavitation (HIFU) once a week for 12 weeks. Group B included 25 man received a weight reduction program in the form of low caloric diet (800-1200 calories/day), aerobic exercises in the form of walking on treadmill 3 times per week for 12 weeks only. Body weight, body mass index, waist circumference and Forced Vital Capacity (FVC) were measured before weight reduction program, in between 6 weeks and after 3 months of training. Statistical analysis revealed that high intensity focused ultrasonic cavitation has more significant effect on body weight (decreased 11.34%), waist circumference (decreased 17.3%) and Forced Vital Capacity (FVC) (increased 63.02%). Therefore, high intensity focused ultra sound cavitation should be recommended for obese prehypertensive men.
