  • Abstract
    Stroke is the primary cause of long term disability among older adults. Aim of this Study: Was to evaluate the effect of the rehabilitation program on the daily living activities for the stroke patients in the physical centers in Port-Said. Design: Quasi-experimental study. Setting: This study was implemented in four physical therapy centers in Port-Said. Study Population: All the stroke patients who attended the centers and have the inclusion criteria selected to the study whose were 50 stork patients. Tools: Two tools were used to collect data. The first was an interviewing questionnaire was used to assess the knowledge and lifestyle of stroke patients, the second tool was observation checklist for monitoring daily living activities. All tools were used pre, post program and after 3 months. Results: Mean score of knowledge for stroke patients preprogram was (1.38) which improved after the program to (8.04) then decreased to (6.9) after 3 months. The total mean score of the healthy lifestyle practice for stroke patients preprogram was (7.42) then improved to (12.7) after the program and further improved to (14.7) after 3 months. There was a statistically significant relation in activities in daily living in pre, post and follow-up the program. Conclusion: Lacked appropriate patients knowledge and practice preprogram and the majority of them were dependent in motor activities. Recommendations: Continuous training program for stroke patients should be implemented to decrease the complications and prevent recurrent attack.
