Abstract :
Aim of Work: To assess Single Surgery Anatomical Success (SSAS) rate after Pars Plana Vitrectomy (PPV) for Rhegmatogenous Retinal Detachment (RRD).Patients and Methods: This prospective interventional case series study was conducted in Cairo University Hospitals in which 20 patients with rhegmatogenous retinal detachment were included. All patients underwent the surgery under general anaesthesia and were performed by highly experienced retinal surgeons. Single surgery anatomical success rate was followed-up for three months postoperatively after the removal of the tamponading silicone oil. Results: SSAS rate was 100% in our study. Conclusion: The final reattachment rates were excellent after PPV alone with meticulous cleaning of the vitreous base.
