Pendidikan Teknik dan Vokasional untuk Pelajar Berkeperluan Khas (Vocational and Technical Education for Special Needs Students)

This study was conducted to determine the teaching and learning process for special needs students in the technical and vocational education which was least concern in the area of special education. Basically, this research was design to investigate the influential factors that which have some implications towards the vocational and technical education for special needs students. Four research dimensions were studied in realizing this research focus mainly on the acceptance of polytechnic lecturers in teaching the special needs students; lecturer s compentencies in teaching the special needs students; the suitablility of the technical and vocational curriculum and infrastructures for special needs students. Respondents for this research were polytechnic lecturers from three polytechnics in Malaysia. Finding reveals that the level of acceptance from polytechnic lecturers and administrators were considered positive while lecturer s competencies in teaching special needs students were rated high based on polytech. In addition, curriculum and infrastructure for special needs students in polytechnics were also at the impressive levels and can be improved in order to give more opportunities for increasing enrolment of special needs students. Suggestions also forwarded for the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Higher Education to enforced the inisiatives in order to give more chances for special needs students as the workforce for the nation s growth especially in technical education.
