Abstract :
Induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) are reprogrammed somatic cells by introducing certain transcription factors as Oct4, Sox2, Klf4, and c-Myc. Human iPSCs have many applications in regenerative medicine because of their potential for pluripotency and avoidance of rejection by the immune system. The challenge is to prepare iPSCs in a rapid safe way and to label them so that they can be followed after transplantation. There are controversies regarding the advantages and disadvantages of therapeutic applications of iPSCs in regenerative medicine. This review is going to discuss methods of preparation, advantages, disadvantages and some applications of induced pluripotent stem cells.
