Abstract :
This article discusses several potential waqfinstruments in higher education. It examines thepotential financing instruments of higher educationin using waqf instruments in the developmentof waqf at the State Islamic Religious Council(MAIN). This study was conducted by interviewingfive Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP), SelangorWakaf Corporation (PWS), Negeri Sembilan WakafCorporation (PWNS), Johor State Islamic Council (MAINJ) and Penang State Islamic Religious Council(MAINPP). As commonly known, MAIN is the soletrustee of a waqf estate in the country. Therefore, theinstruments that have been implemented in MAINare more practical for higher education. In addition,the discussions in this article also put forward severalproposals to realise waqf instruments in highereducation.
