Abstract
A study on the effect of heat stress on fatty acid composition was conducted at the School of Biological Sciences, University of Wales, Bangor, UK during 1994. Cotton seeds of S-12 cultivar were utilized. The study concludes that greater unsaturation occurred with increasing germination time. High temperature has major effect on fatty acid composition and brought significant changes particularly in the neutral lipid and glycolipid fatty acids. However, small changes also appeared in phospholipids fatty acid under the same experimental proceedings.
