Abstract
A field trial involving seven dual-type millet varieties was conducted at National Agricultural Research Centre, Islamabad to determine the interrelationships among agronomic characters and quality characters viz. crude protein, crude fat, ash, crude fibre and nitrogen free extract. The results suggested a highly significant and positive correlation of plant height with the number of leaves tiller ^-1, and tillers plant ^-1. The plant height also showed a positive correlation with the green fodder yield (GFY) and dry matter yield (DMY), but a non-significant and negative association with leaf area and quality characters. Leaves tiller –1 showed a significant and positive correlation with GFY and a highly significant and positive association with DMY, but the association with the remaining agronomic characters was negative and non-significant. A significant and positive correlation was also observed between GFY and DMY but there was highly significant and negative correlation between GFY and crude protein. A significant and positive correlation was also observed between GFY and crude fat.
