Abstract :
In order to develop new high yielding chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) genotypes with associated desirable characters, several morphological and yield related performances were examined. These genotypes included four nodulated and four non nodulated genotypes. The experiment was laid out in randomized complete block design with three replications. Significant differences were observed among genotypes for days to 50% flowering, days to maturity, plant height, seeds pod^-1, 100-seed weight and seed yield plant^-1, but not for number of productive branches. Comparing nodulated and non nodulated genotypes, Karak-3 (nodulated) was found to be the best parent for seed yield and Betal-98 for 50% early flowering as desirable performance in nodulated genotypes. Genotype ICC19183 was found promising for seed yield and shortest days to 50% flowering and maturity in non nodulated genotypes.
