Abstract :
This study is to detect the depth in the Langat river estuary and its offshore using the Landsat TM year 1999 image with combination band 3, 2, 1. A total of 76 samples of water depth were taken from the study area. Correlation and regression techniques were used to determine the relationship between digital number (DN) and water depth in the Langat river estuary and its offshore. The relationships between DN band 1,2 and 3 with depth are shown by the correlation coefficient (r). The relationships between DN band 1,2 and 3 with depth are -0.68, -0.70 and -0.60 respectively. Linear regressionresults between DN and depth values for band 1, 2, 3 shows depth explaining DN 46% for band 1, 49% for band 2 and 36% for band 3.
