Abstract :
The complexes of diorganotin( N) N-benzylmethyldithiocarbamates and diorganotin( IV) N-ethyl-n-propyldithiocarbamates have been successfully synthesised from organotin(IV) chloride with the respective amines and carbon disulfide. All the complexes were characterized using elemental analyses, infrared, lH and 13C nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopic methods, while the structure was determined by X-ray diffraction methods. The complexes of dimethyltin(IV) N-benzylmethyldithiocarbamate crystallised in the monoclinic system with space group P2/n. The aromatic organostannum(IV) dithiocarbamates are more cytotoxic towards HL60 and MCF-7 cancer cells than the aliphatic complexes which, did not show cytotoxicity behaviour towards HL60 and MCF-7 cells.
