Abstract :
Communities at the Indonesia’s West Kalimantan and Malaysia’s Serikin, Sarawak border had long lived in peace and harmony through the sharing of economic and cultural activities. Communities from both sides of the border have both blood and social ties even before the formation of the modern geo-political boundary. The close relationship continues through border trade activities such as the Serikin Weekend Market. Selling and buying activities had sustained the social ties at this Sarawak and West Kalimantan border. This article discusses the trade activities carried out at Serikin town and how the trade relationship helped to bring harmony to the communities at both both sides of the border.
