Abstract :
The Lenggong valley located in Malaysia’s state of Perak has been declared as a world heritage site by UNESCO in June 2012 . It is in need of further improvement to enhance its competitiveness in the global tourism market. One sensible way to do this is by showcasing the uniquness of the place. Studies found that the valley is abound with unique local attributes apart from its archeological worth that has earned it the UNESCO’s recognition. This paper discusses the relevancy of the local element in augmenting the ‘sense of place’ of the valley and in projecting its local uniqueness. It is hoped that this articulation would contribute to the enhancement of the valley’s global competitiveness.
