The provision of facilities at jetty terminals to Pulau Langkawi: An assessment on the level of tourist satisfaction

Levels of attractiveness and satisfaction of tourism destinations to a large extent depend on the availability of various support facilities. In case of Langkawi, availability of facilities at jetty terminals is crucial for tourists visiting the Island via sea. The main objective of the present article is to assess the level of satisfaction among tourists toward the level of provision of facilities at three passenger jetty terminals to at Kuala Perlis, Kuala Kedah and Pulau Pinang. Questionnaire forms were distributed to obtain the needed data. These data were then analysed and results of the study showed that the level of overall satisfaction among the tourists toward provided facilities at jetty terminals to Pulau Langkawi stands at being less than satisfactory. Further analysis indicated that the level of tourist satisfaction on these provided facilities at the jetty terminals does not influence the tourists in making repeat visits to Langkawi Island. Although satisfaction on the provision of facilities at the jetty terminals is not the main reason for tourists to visit Langkawi Island, effort should be made to improve the situation.
