This paper is an exploration of female re lationships using feminist and psychoanalytic approachesin reading a British play eaptide. The findings provide us a unique way of ex plaining thebondage between mother-daughter re lationships, and it also tells us that in the play NeaptideSarah Daniels offers a positive future to her two female pro tagonists because both have beenrescued by their motherJ oyce. Daniels uses the Demeter-Perseph one myth to illustrate the limitedchoices that her female characterJoyce has in han dling her family crisis.
