Abstract :
An account was made to investigate morphology, palynology and leaf epidermal anatomy of ten weedspecies i.e. Asphodelus tenuifolius Carvan, Chenopodiumalbum L., Chenopodium murale L., Convolvulus arvensisL., Cyprus defformis L. Amoen, Euphorbia helioscopia L.,Lathyrus aphaca L., Plantago major L., Tribulus teristrisL. and Vicia faba L. from District Tank. Pollen charactersi.e. Type, shape and diameter of pollen grain and PEratio were important characters; while in leaf epidermalanatomy the type, shape and diameter of epidermal cell, type and diameter of stomata, length of stomatalcomplex, type of trichome (glandular / non glandular)etc were used as taxonomic characters of these weeds. The average polar diameter was 28.14, the smallest was14.12 in Chenopodium album L. and C murale L. whilethe largest (52.5) was in Convolvulus arvensis L. Fivetypes of stomata were found while trichomes werepresent only in two species. It is concluded that suchtype of study of weeds clarify its taxonomic positionwhich is helpful for proper weeds management.
