  • Abstract
A numerical analysis used to simulate laminar combined convection heat transfer in a two-dimensional sliding rectangular inclined enclosure has been performed. The research deals with heat and fluid flow in this enclosure where the hot isothermal top wall is considered wavy with six undulations and the wave amplitude is taken to be 0.1, and sliding at a constant velocity while the bottom wall is fixed and kept at isothermal cold temperature. The other sidewalls are considered thermally insulated. The enclosure under investigation is considered inclined with inclination angles ranging from 0˚ to 30˚ and filled with water as a working fluid where its Prandtl number is taken as 6. The other sidewalls are considered thermally insulated..The integrals forms of the governing equations of the fluid medium in the cavity are solved numerically by using the Finite Volume Method (FVM) based on collocated variables arrangement. All the numerical calculations are performed at three different Richardson numbers representing the forced convection, combined convection, and free convection which are respectively 0.1, 1.0 and 10. Rayleigh numbers are considered ranging from 105 to 10 7. The inclination angle effect of enclosure on the heat convection process is examined for various inclination angles. The results are presented as stream- lines and temperature contours graphs and the variations in the local and average Nusselt numbers variation at the top and bottom walls are also explained. In all studied cases, streamlines and isothermal contours are affected by the wavy shape of the top hot sliding wall which almost takes the wavy shape of this surface. The results show a good agreement with other published results.
