Abstract :
In the present study steel tube and commercially pure aluminum tube plate are joined by friction welding of tube to tube plate using an external tool (FWTPET) and the process parameters are optimized. Taguchi’s L9 orthogonal array approach has been applied to determine the most influential control factors in order to yield better joint strength. The practical feasibility of the application of GA to FWTPET process has been validated by means of observing the deviation between predicted and experimentally obtained welding process parameters. The percentage contributions of each process parameters have been obtained using statistical analysis of variance (ANOVA).
