Abstract :
According to the lattice Boltzmann method (LBM), natural convection can be simulated in an open-ended enclosure. This paper focuses on the thermal and flow behaviour in different parts of a west heated wall in an open-ended enclosure. The heated vertical wall is vertical and, the flow enters and exits from the open right side of the enclosure. It is found that open boundary conditions performed at the opening of the enclosure are reliable and the results obtained are in line with the results from previous studies. In this study the Prandtl number (Pr) was fixed to 0.70 (air), while the Grashof number (Gr) and aspect ratio (Ar) of the enclosure were in the ranges of 103-106 and 0.5-2.0, respectively. Heat transfer rates were reduced when the aspect ratios were enhanced. Over time, the flow inside the enclosure communicated with the ambient. Evaluation of the flow began with recirculation inside the enclosure. Finally, by analysing different parts of the west heated wall, it was found that the middle part has the highest heat transfer rate in comparison to the other heated parts of the wall
